I can't say enough about Master Tran and all the great instructors who help with the kids' classes. Three of our boys have joined over the last year and under Master Tran have grown more confident, focused and disciplined.

They look forward to the challenge of class and belt tests and the fun of races and team-building competitions throughout class time. The classes themselves are fast-paced (never boring!) and well-thought out so that even a five year old quickly understands what to do and when to do it. And if there's a time when he doesn't understand, he's met with patience and gentle instruction until he does!

We look forward to continuing to study here as a family for years to come!

FAQs

Do I need to know jiu-jitsu or Judo to study Gracie Jiu-jitsu?

No, you don’t. There are beginner classes available and many of the people who study Gracie Jiu-jitsu have no prior martial arts training.

Do I need any special equipment to study Brazilian Martial Arts?

Students typically wear a Gi (two-piece garment worn by martial artists.) It is also typical for some students may want to wear a mouth guard. It’s a good idea to have a supply of athletic tape, as well.

As a beginner, do I need to spar?

No. Beginner classes focus on teaching basic techniques and safety, and you can then work your way up to controlled sparring in class.

Can Gracie Jiu-jitsu help me defend myself?

Absolutely. It’s one of the world’s most effective self-defense techniques and is often preferred because it teaches students to leverage their body weight to defeat larger opponents.
